Silicon Valley. Nintendo 64

3rd Person. Puzzle Game.

I'm going to give you a quick overview on this one because frankly, it's mental. You are a robot involved in a spaceship crash and your body gets destroyed. The microchip with your brain in it survives and is able to possess the robotic animal inhabitants of the space station you crashed into. Whilst your human partner stays in the ship you must solve puzzles to find replacement parts for the downed ship.

The Good.

It's bonkers so you'll have a good laugh playing it. It's very original, each animal has different abilities so it's really good fun just to find out what each does and just mess about.

The puzzles are very weird and definitely not repetitive or ones that you will have encountered before. Which is always good.

The Bad.

It makes no sense. None at all. Took me a while to realise what was going on to be honest.

Sometimes the puzzles are too hard. I had to look up the solutions to a few which weren't anything close to what I'd been doing.

Rating.

If it's cheap, buy it, but it's definitely a connoisseurs game. It's for the generation that loved nintendo, games that made no sense and you couldn't complete.

Resident Evil 4

Third Person - Horror

With Resident Evil 4, i cant say much too bad about it, its a good game, good storyline, and not too hard to play, they have brought in the same character again, leon, from resident evil 2, which is a thing that i like because i did like him, but the thing i do not like is the fact that your not actually fighting zombies, your fighting spanish people with a virus which makes tentacles explode out of there head, which in my opinion is just fucked up.

The Good

The Storyline is good, the characters are likeable, and the merchant is a fucking legend! all in all the game is extremely good, the bosses are easy towards the beginning but gradually progresses in difficulty, resulting in a disgustingly difficult boss

The Bad

There's not much to not like about this game, its a really fun game to play, the only issue is that Capcom have steered away from what makes a good resident evil game.

Rating

This is a good game, but it feels a little like Capcom are losing their touch on what resident evil is all about, so its got to be a 7/10

Daftboss

Assassins Creed Series

Third person. Adventure.

The Good.

The game play is very smooth and the sandbox environment gets bigger and better with every game. I'd recommend playing through each game so you understand the plot, as it's quite confusing. But very cool(no spoilers). Each game gets more in depth allowing the game to be engaging in different ways each time so you can complete one after the other without getting burnout.

The character begins to become more customisable and there are plenty of weapons available in the later games. Though in brotherhood and revelations you often have to find objects to trade for the better weapons.

The Bad.

I have to say there isn't much bad apart from the wayward 3rd person camera. Sometimes during combat in tight spaces the camera has a mind of it's own going behind trees and other objects blocking combat from view leading to a severe loss of health (and temper) until you manage to regain control.

The first game features segments where you are let out of the animus which can often be a bit dull but necessary for the story. These cut scenes disappear in the sequels do don't worry.

Rating.

I loved it. Addictive and massive the games get better every time but it's definitely worth playing them all for the full effect. There are so many elements I couldn't fit them in this review.

Battlefield 3

First person shooter.

The Good.

Battlefield is the shooter that COD wants to be. The graphics are lush and the gameplay is absolutely outstanding. The maps can be immense and slow, tight and fast or anything in between. With various game modes to keep you occupied and a kill cam designed to make it hard for campers you will not find yourself getting bored. There is also a online co-op available from which you can unlock more weapons. There are so many unlock ambles and variants available that you can spend hours trying to find the right combination. You can change classes mid game as well allowing you to constantly change how you play a game. You can even change your players camouflage. Which is a bit pointless but cool.

The online play is by far the best bit and the destructible terrain and cool vehicles just add to the mayhem.

The Bad.

It takes a long time to get any decent weapons and trust me everyone else has amazing weapons and will kill you at distance a lot before you get to their level.

The vehicles suffer from the same thing but once you have unlocked the good stuff you can destroy everyone else with ease. Watch out for planes I had to look up how to unlock anything for them and my flatmate is still better than me. They are exceptionally difficult to use at first but once you have worked it out using them is one of the best parts of the game.

The campaign is really, really easy with the occasional absolutely impossible section that will take a few goes to get through. But hey the real playable time is the online portion of the game.

Rating.

It's a must buy for online shooters. The learning curve is massive but once you've got there you'll appreciate the gameplay.
